SETTLE (GRAN BRETAGNA) – L’olandese Dylan Groenewegen (LottoNL-Jumbo) ha vinto in maniera nettissima lo sprint che ha deciso la prima tappa del Tour de Yorkshire, lasciandosi alle spalle, sul traguardo si Settle, l’australiano Caleb Ewan (Orica-GreenEdge) e il tedesco Nikias Arndt (Team Giant-Alpecin).
Nel finale ci aveva provato a sorprendere tutti Stephen Cummings (Dimension Data), non nuovo a colpi a sorpresa di questo genere, ma questa volta il gruppo non si è fatto sorprendere. Sono stati proprio i compagni di squadra del vincitore a chiudere il gap dopo l’ultimo chilometro e tutto si è deciso allo sprint.
Groenewegen ha anche indossato la prima maglia blu di leader della classifica generale grazie agli abbuoni.
