HERON (BELGIO) – Dylan Groenewegen (Jumbo-Visma) ha vinto la tappa di apertura del Tour de Wallonie a Héron e ha così festeggiato la sua prima vittoria della stagione. Battuti di una bicicletta Hugo Hofstetter (Israel Start-Up Nation) e Gianni Vermeersch (Alpecin-Fenix), rispettivamente secondo e terzo.

Nei cinque chilometri finali, il gruppo ha assorbito una fuga di tre corridori e la Jumbo-Visma ha preso in mano le operazioni pilotando alla perfezione Groenewegen verso quel succeso che mancava al corridore olandese da 17 mesi, dal UAE Tour 2020.

Prima fuga di giornata promossa da Stan Dewulf (AG2R Citroën) e Jenthe Biermans (Israel Start-Up Nation) che hanno guadagnato non più di 44 secondi sul gruppo. Poi se ne è andato un terzetto composto da Andrea Vendrane (AG2R Citroën), Andrea Bagioli (Deceuninck-QuickStep) e Rasmus Tiller (Uno-X Pro Cycling) ripresi anche loro a 4 km dall’arrivo. Tutto quindi si è deciso in volata.
