Dopo aver mostrato uno stato di forma brillante già nella giornata di apertura, il giovane belga era il favorito per vincere la tappa oggi ed infatti si è confermato il più forte a cronometro, anche se il suo compagno di squadra Yves Lampaert, gli è arrivato vicinissimo.

Evenepoel ora ha un vantaggio di 45 secondi su Lampaert nella classifica generale.
